Easter Florals & Accent Decor Photo Shoot – BTS

Accent Decor is known for their trend-forward and drool-worthy home and event pieces like containers, planters, decorative elements and so much more. If you haven’t heard of them, you’ve maybe heard of their famous “Harlow” stand (a late 2010’s and current must-have).
And I’ve had the privilege of working with the talented team at Accent Decor on multiple occasions!

Accent Decor collaborates with floral designers to create website and catalog imagery that showcases their beautiful products that serve as inspiration and help designers contextualize the size, color, and use-case of their products.

Editorial, catalog-style work has its challenges, it should be aspirational (e.g. “caviar” flowers), yet approachable and viable. The shoot typically occurs outside of the floral season you are designing so creative color and floral material selection is key! Ideally, flowers need to be reworked so choosing materials that are flexible for many styles and shapes of vessels is critical.

So, in May 2023, I hopped on a plane and headed to Atlanta for a photo shoot that covered multiple holidays: Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day products were included in the shoot!

The inspiration of the Easter shoot was classical with a more earthy, tonal take, my FAVORITE! Many of the Accent products were natural, neutral, and minimalist: think hand-crafted ceramics and woody baskets. It was so beautiful, but definitely an earthier approach to spring!

Color theory was critical in ensuring that the design brief and requests were honored in each piece and set. By mixing both classic, spring-pastels with tonal versions of the same core hues, I was able to approach different Easter looks (you can learn all about my approach to building beautiful color palettes in this free webinar).

For flowers, I focused on earthy textures mixed with muddy and classic spring blooms like tulips, ranunculus, sweet pea, peonies, and spirea and also scored the prettiest green dogwood at the Mayesh Wholesale Atlanta.

In just a few days, hundreds of stems were processed, over 5 scenes were set, and over 30 designs were created, tweaked, shifted, styled and shot!

I have worked on dozens of sets over the years doing floral styling but the team at Accent Decor is heads and tails above. They are truly some of the most talented, professional, and kindest artists and creatives I’ve worked with. It’s a real privilege and honor each time I am invited to work with this team! You can check out all their gorgeous products at Accent Decor!

Have a happy Easter! – Amy
