It’s the peak season for summer blooms and market bouquets. Whether you’re a pro, a hobbyist, or grow flowers and want to make beautiful quick bouquets, the ability to whip up a professional-looking bouquet can make all the difference in maximizing your blooms.
Imagine how much easier life would be if you could create stunning, beautiful market bouquets in just TWO minutes!🤯
Sounds too good to be true? Let me show you how it can be done AND done well!
I’m revisiting one of my most popular YouTube videos from 2018, where I share my approach to creating a beautiful sprial hand-tied bouquet in record time.⏳
So why this approach…this method involves crossing each new stem over the previous one at a consistent angle while performing a half-turn with the bouquet. It might feel awkward at first, but it ensures the bouquet stays together, maintains a tidy small handle and the stems avoid getting crushed!
I’ll share the key steps here in this blog post, but be sure to watch the full video to see the technique in action and get all the tips and tricks.
The Key Steps to the Two-Minute Bouquet
Mix and Match: Incorporate a variety of foliages and flower types. In my video, I used a palette of lime green and white, with gardenia foliage for a glossy contrast.
Selection: Choose sturdy, straight stems if possible as bent stems can be a bit more challenging when just starting out with this techniques.
Initial Placement: Start with your first stem straight up and down in your non-dominant hand. Cross the second stem over the top, about a third of the way down, at a 45-degree angle.
Half-Turn Technique: Place each stem with a half-turn, aiming for an asymmetrical design that adds a natural, dynamic feel.
Hint: Be sure to keep all the stems held gently but firmly in your hand. Make an “A—OK” with your hand position to not over grip the bouquet, and gently grasp the bouquet as needed with your other fingers.
Binding: Secure the bouquet with rubberbands, bind it wire, twine or tape.
Trimming: Cut the stems to the desired length with sharp shears, allowing the bouquet to stand on its own, thanks to the spiral technique.
Presentation: Place the bouquet in a vase or wrap it with a ribbon—perfect for a quick market wrap!
